The same configuration templates used by the connection workspace.
Configure the client
Back up the existing configuration, then edit: ~/.codex/config.toml and the launching terminal
Replace both placeholders locally. API keys belong in the client secret field or process environment. Regional ingress changes the network path, not data residency.
Verify and recover
- Open Connect tools, select your project key and model, and run preflight.
- Send a short request from the client. Check the recorded model, ingress and response in the verification session.
- 401: check key status. 402: the balance, a budget or a plan’s included usage does not cover the request — the message says which; top up, lower max_tokens or wait for the plan to reset. 403: check model and network permissions. 429: inspect the limit scope and retry-after.
- If configuration fails, restore the backup, remove the temporary environment variables, restart the client, then inspect the request log.
Other clients
Any client that lets you set an OpenAI-compatible base URL and an API key works the same way.
